Admissions Overview

We know that many of you have been on a journey looking for the best academic placement for your son or daughter. Along the way, your child has probably been discouraged. Because of these things, we view the admission process quite seriously. We want to be gentle with your family’s hopes and protective of your child’s emotions.

Phase I: Introduction

  • Parents visit the school and speak with a director
  • If parents find they would like to apply, they should obtain and submit the following to Hope Academy:
    • Diagnostic testing from district of residence and/or educational therapist or neuropsychologist
    • Recent Reports Cards
    • “Interested Families” Packet: Student Info, Consent to Share, Parent Questionnaire
    • Application Processing fee ($100)

Phase II: ADMISSIONS TEAM EVALUATION (part 1)

  • Team reviews all the enrollment, intake recommendations, and relevant testing paperwork to determine if Hope Academy is an appropriate fit for the student
  • Team may call professional/educational references as permitted (“Consent to Share”)

Phase III: ACADEMIC SCREENING & EVALUATION (part 2)

  • Student meets with lead teachers for a Slingerland® screening and benchmark testing for reading and math ($225, due same day as screening)
  • Hope Academy staff meets with parents to review screening results
  • Team reviews Slingerland® screening and benchmarking results
  • Team schedules a meeting with the parents to discuss if Hope Academy is an appropriate placement for your student, as well as Hope’s educational approach

PHASE IV (IF HOPE ACADEMY IS APPROPRIATE): PARENT CONFERENCE / STUDENT VISIT

  • Student visits Hope Academy for a day of classes
  • Team and parents discuss feedback from student’s visit

Phase V: Commitment & Financial Agreements

  • Admission paperwork provided to Parents for review and signatures
  • All agreements must be signed and returned to the office for enrollment to be accepted
  • Enrollment fee ($200)
  • Parents must set up automatic tuition payments and activation of a payment plan through FACTS (or pay in full)

Please be aware of the element of flexibility present in this process. There is no exact timeline. We understand that this intake process may seem extensive, but a lot of thought has gone into it. We want to be confident that Hope Academy would be a good fit for your student before a commitment is made.
