Admissions Overview

We know that many of you have been on a journey looking for the best academic placement for your son or daughter. Along the way, your child has probably been discouraged. Because of these things, we view the admission process quite seriously. We want to be gentle with your family’s hopes and protective of your child’s emotions.

Phase I: Introduction

  • Parents visit the school and speak with a director

  • If parents find they would like to apply, they should obtain and submit the following to Hope Academy:

    • Psychoeducational Evaluation testing from district of residence, neuropsychologist or educational therapist. Must include cognitive ability assessment such as Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) and academic achievement assessments such as the Woodcock-Johnson Achievement Test or Wechsler Intelligence Achievement Test (WIAT)

    • Most Recent Reports Cards

    • “Interested Families” Packet: Student Info, Consent to Share, Parent Questionnaire

    • Application Processing fee ($125)

Phase II: ADMISSIONS TEAM EVALUATION (part 1)

  • Team reviews all application, testing, and recommendations to determine if Hope Academy is an appropriate fit for the student

  • Team may call professional/educational references as permitted (“Consent to Share”)

Phase III: ACADEMIC SCREENING & EVALUATION (part 2)

  • Student meets with a language arts teacher for a Slingerland® screening ($225, due same day as screening)

  • Student meets with teachers for benchmark testing in reading and math computations

  • Hope Academy staff meets with parents to review Slingerland® screening results

  • Team reviews Slingerland® screening and benchmarking results

  • Team schedules a meeting with the parents to discuss if Hope Academy is an appropriate placement for your student, as well as Hope’s educational approach

PHASE IV (IF HOPE ACADEMY IS APPROPRIATE): PARENT CONFERENCE / STUDENT VISIT

  • Parents meet with admissions team to discuss Hope Academy’s educational approach.

  • Student visits Hope Academy for a day of classes

  • Team and parents discuss feedback from student’s visit

Phase V: Commitment & Financial Agreements

  • Admission paperwork provided to Parents for review and signatures

  • All agreements must be signed and returned to the office for enrollment to be accepted

  • Enrollment fee ($200)

  • Parents must set up automatic tuition payments and activation of a payment plan through FACTS (or pay in full)

The admissions team strives to process each application in a timely manner. We are not able to give an exact timeline. We understand that this intake process may seem extensive, but a lot of thought has gone into it. We want to be confident that Hope Academy would be a good fit for your student before a commitment is made.
